Growth Mindset: My Motto

Large Accomplishments Begin With Optimism

My motto/mantra is "Large Accomplishments Begin With Optimism." Optimism, defined, is the hopefulness and confidence about the future or a successful outcome of something. Throughout my life, I have found that without a positive mindset, accomplishments can't happen. When facing a challenge, I have to always remind myself to adjust my mindset to picture myself overcome the challenge at hand. This coincides with having a growth mindset - for me, having my mind in the right place opens the door for larger accomplishments!

    I am so glad you wanted to make a motto, Demery! I will be creating a Padlet (kind of a web bulletin board) to share the things people make the growth mindset posts, and I will be able to put your motto there. Yay!     Hi Demery! I really like how you made a motto. I feel like it is very important to have something to live by or tell yourself day in and day out. I feel like everyday, especially being college students, we face challenges that were unseen and it is important to have something to get you past the difficult times. I am going to write this motto down in my planner. Thanks of the motivation!

    I love this because you focus on the beginning. Framing and paradigms are incredibly important to being successful, so starting with a sense of optimism helps you to END with a sense of optimism (indeed, I'd say that one can't happen without the other). Ending with a positive attitude means that you're proud of what you've done, and can rest easy knowing that you've done well.

    Hey Demery! I really love this motto. As finals are getting closer, I can feel the weight of all my final projects building and it is hard to feel like I can face them. Seeing your motto reminded me to keep optimistic. Having a positive attitude makes any task a little lighter.

Reading Notes: Mr. Miacca, Reading B

This story is about a boy that sometimes was a troublemaker. His mom always told him that if he kept being bad, Mr. Miacca would take him from the street while he was playing outside. Mr. Miacca threw Tommy (the boy) in a bag and took him to his home. He tells the boy he's going to eat him for dinner, and tells his wife Sally that he has dinner ready. Mr. Miacca realizes he forgot herbs to put on the boy, so he tells his wife to watch Tommy while he goes and gets some. Tommy talks to Sally about if her husband always eats boys, and she says yes. Tommy tells Sally she should like pudding instead, and offers his mom's homemade pudding for her. Sally is foolish and let's Tommy convince her to go home and fetch her some pudding then come right back. Tommy was then free from Mr Miacca until he was bad once again. Mr Miacca.
