Topic #1: Fairy Tale Princesses
This topic interested me because of a specific storybook called "The Princess and Her Parties" that I found from a previous student. I studied abroad in London, England last summer, and on the home page of this storybook is the Windsor Castle. I toured the Windsor Castle while I was there, so it'd be super fun to act as if I was the queen of the castle using the pictures I took there last summer. I know a little about the history of the castle and the queen's life, and I know even more about what it looked like (and I have some pictures that I wasn't supposed to take... oops!) I'd love to learn about specific stories that took place in the castle, and how I could change these stories into more dark stories that are suspenseful.
Here is a photo I took of the Windsor Castle in England.
Topic #2: Dogs
This topic interests me because... Who doesn't love dogs?! The storybook "A Dog's Adventure" from a previous student explains the life of a dog from his point of view. This would be so entertaining to make, because there are several dogs that have done things that created funny stories. I know all about how dogs act, but I don't know too many storybook-type stories of dogs. I'd love to see the funny things dogs do and how those can be turned into mythological stories. Many dogs are smarter than we think, so it could be fun to retell stories about how dogs realize humans underestimate them!
Topic #3: Alice in Wonderland
The topic Alice in Wonderland interests me because I'm a huge fan of this story. However, the storybook of a previous student called "Alice's Journey... Through Social Media?" interests me even more, because I'm a PR major! A lot of what I will do in the future deals with social media, so creating a story similar to this one would likely interest me. I know all about social media platforms and the use of each, so I'd love to tell stories using advanced technology because many of these stories don't include technology at all!
Topic #4: OU Ghost Stories
This topic's name is about ghost stories at OU... How cool is that! I didn't even know there were ghost stories on our campus, so I don't have much previous knowledge about this topic, though I'd love to learn. The storybook "Live On University Legends" has multiple stories about campus buildings I'm familiar with, such as "Walker Tower Woes." I'd love to hear about these stories and retell them in accordance with my own experiences living in the dorm towers!
