Reading Notes: Mr. Fox, Reading B

In this story, Lady Mary is a womanizer whom many loved. She had lots of lovers, but she loved Mr. Fox the most. Lady Mary wanted to marry Mr Fox, because she loved him the most and because he was brave and rich. He wanted to marry her, too. Mr Fox told Mary they should live in his castle, but Mary had never seen the castle.

When Mr Fox was out of town before the wedding, Mary went to investigate his castle. She found it with a gate that tells her to "be bold," outside of it, but no one was there. As she kept walking, the words progressed in the halls and galleries stating:

Be bold, be bold, but not too bold,
Lest that your heart's blood should run cold.

Mary was brave, so she continued to be bold. She eventually opened a door and found a handful of beautiful young ladies all stained with blood. She realized what had been happening and quickly ran out, only to see Mr Fox dragging another beautiful woman from the gate to the door.

Lady Mary hid, and watched Mr Fox cut off the hand of one of the woman because he wanted her diamond ring. The ring landed on her lap, but she was hidden so Mr Fox didnt see and kept on. Mary ran away quickly, and their marriage was supposed to be the next day.

The next morning, before the wedding, Mary and Mr Fox had breakfast. She described yesterday's events to him as a "bad dream," for which he keeps telling her all of it was not so. She kept describing the events and Mr Fox kept denying, until Mary showed him the diamond ring from the hand he cut off. Mary's two brothers cut him into pieces.

This story was odd, but had a good plot. If I retold this story, I'd want to make it to where Mr Fox had a twin brother and he was the one doing all the wrongdoings. Then, Mary would accuse Mr Fox and he'd have to tell her about his horrible brother who he wanted to keep a secret.
