Famous Last Words: Final Push

Image
As the semester is coming to an end, I decided I should do one last Famous Last Words post regarding my work in this class this semester. My storybook was about Alice in Wonderland incorporating Public Relations components (my major). At the beginning of the semester, I was overwhelmed with the amount of ideas I had for this subject. As time went on, I realized the storybook took much more planning than I expected. I just wrote my last story, "Power of True." My stories incorporated cell phones in Wonderland (WonderPhones), the importance of reputation management and the credibility that comes with telling the truth. All three of these themes are relevant in the PR world today. We’re getting to that point in the semester where everything is picking up and the end of the semester is in sight. In this class, you need 410 points to receive an A in the class. After I finish this blog post, I will be at 412 points! I’m very proud of myself for getting so ahead in this...

Famous Last Words: February Vibes

Image
It's February 13, and I finally feel like I've gotten back into the swing of things. In this class specifically, I'm enjoying putting together my website. My site is a modern twist on Alice in Wonderland, which should be enjoyable. I'm a PR major, and I'm bringing in people skills, technology, social media and communication to these stories - which I look forward to doing. Sometimes it's hard for me to channel my creativity in writing these stories, but I know I'll power through it! I am going to Cabo for spring break (March 18), and I can hardly wait. That's my main motivator right now! I got advised for next semester and only have 11 hours left to graduate, although it's my junior year. Looks like I'm going to have to make some decisions regarding graduating early, even though I definitely don't want to leave college anytime soon! Me regarding graduating. Image from GIF Keyboard. I have been very impressed with my classmates...

Famous Last Words: Getting in the Swing of Things

In the midst of week three, I feel like I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. The readings I read this week were Biblical, which I found very interesting. I am a Christian myself, so hearing different stories about the Bible is always interesting. My two stories were about Adam and Eve and Mary, which I'm very familiar with. I kind of found it difficult, though, to write a story about these because they're stories that are so engrained in my brain. But - I ended up writing my story about Mary being devious, which is in no way my beliefs - just for the purpose of this class! I read other people's stories and blogs this week, and I found this very interesting. Some people are great storytellers, and I did not originally include dialogue in my stories like some people did. However, I plan to in the future! It was fun reading introductions, because I had a lot in common with many people in this class. My other classes are going fine. I have an internship t...

Famous Last Words: Learning the Ropes

Image
Last week, I completed the week two assignments for this course. At first, seeing we had about six assignments a week was overwhelming. I am normally good at hitting deadlines, but I wanted to make sure my planner portrayed exactly what was expected of me. Once I got started, though, I found that I will definitely find this class enjoyable. Additionally, there are so many extra credit opportunities throughout the course that I plan to take full advantage of. The online course wiki is extremely helpful, and I have bookmarked multiple pages that I think could come in handy for the future. Screenshot taken from my computer bookmarks. I had fun with the first reading/storytelling assignment on week two. I wrote about the story similar to Beauty and the Beast, but with a Basilisk. I found it fun trying to change the story up a little, but keeping the same core. I feel like I will most often approach changing the character's motives/attitudes throughout this class, because that...
